FASHION IN 3D

I have two days left at Vogue and I am actually quite sad to be finishing my time here as it is this final week where I have began to feel comfortable and more confident in tasks I have been set.

I thought I should blog about 3D FASHION as it seems to be popping up a lot recently. I think it was Italian Vogue gave a free pair of 3d glasses with their most recent issue to view fashion in 3D. And then this morning I collected post and a magazine called Another says on the front, view Kate Moss in 3D.

Will this be a new start to something? Is it possible by next year it will be the norm to pick up a magazine, once putting on your designer 3D glasses! Only time will tell.

Second Week at Vogue

Second week at Vogue was a busy one.
I now felt more settled and was more comfortable in tasks I was given. The best job I got to be involved with was helping to design the contents pages for Nov issue.

My task: To choose two images, one for each contents page and to change any copy, whether it be placement or colour.

I really enjoyed doing this as I had a chance to get involved in a few pages of the magazine. On Wednesday Alex (Editor) came and spoke to me about them. She liked one and said the other needs to be changed. She liked the shoot I choose it from but from but wanted a different image. Being prepared I had already made a selection of contents pages with different images, in case the ones put forward were not right. In the end they were both passed and will be in the Nov issue.

Last week I did other tasks such as delivering parcels to condenast studios, such as large stars (half the size of me) and a very expensive bracelet! I continued boarding up pages, answering the phone, making contact sheets, big scanning jobs and collecting post each morning.

While helping Silvia and Becky, I learned a few new skills on Indesign which will come in hand when I am back at Leeds for my final year and possibly as my year progresses in industry.

Now I am on my third and final week at Vogue.
Yesterday I delivered hand made star biscuits by cooking Goddess Nigella Lawson! No sadly not, I didn't get to taste one after they were photographed, but I am sure they tasted divine!
It's Tuesday morning and things are quite quiet but I am sure as everyone gets in it will be as always busy busy busy.

First Week at Vogue

Last Week:
I have my own desk sitting opposite the Picture Editor. My tasks involve scanning and saving, library research, creating contact sheets, answering the phone, cutting, pasting and boarding sheets for the magazine, collecting post, as well as always offering tea and coffee to whoever wants one and any other things that need to be done.

R.I.P Corrine Day
Last week, on Wednesday I went through all shoots that Corrine Day did for Vogue, a fantastic photographer who is renowned for introducing Kate Moss to modeling. Sadly she passed away just over a week ago and of course Vogue mag will do a piece on her covering just some of her many wonderful photographs. The shoot I came across that I loved was when she did Glast fest with some of the Vogue team. I have had the pleasure of looking through all of her shoots for Vogue over the years and with such a diverse selection of styles and themes, it is such a loss to loose someone with so much talent.

Monday 6th- Morning 11.30
Today is the start to my second week at Vogue and Silvia the Senior Designer has just said I may be involved in helping designing pages which would be exciting to get involved with.
Up date as i type: Monday morning meeting is happening behind me and they said "Sarah will be doing the contents page" Brilliant today I will actually be involved in designing a page in Vogue magazine! At present they are discussing the December issue, which I already know the trends and star features which will be included.
All I will say is look out for stars, for anyone who is up on trends they will see that they will be appearing in their winter wardrobe as key trends to be wearing over the festive season.

The September Issue was a must see before I start at Vogue tomorrow!
It was very insightful to see behind the scenes of the magazine. I loved the position of the creative director, Grace Coddington and how fantastic she is with her creative ideas for shoots. If you haven't seen this documentary then I highly recommend it!
Tomorrow is my first day at Vogue as an intern for 3 weeks in the Art department. I am ready to learn all I can about the world of fashion from the no.1 fashion magazine...VOGUE!
I will update tomorrow on how my first day went, who's who, what I learnt, What my job role is and any other exciting things I may come across!
